Welcome to NEAF!
A message from our President:

As President of NEAF, I am delighted to invite you to explore NEAF’s work, its community, and to become involved with our activities.
NEAF Members share a love of Near Eastern Archaeology and NEAF works to share activities, research, information.

On this website you will find information about NEAF activities, tours to ancient sites, current archaeological research in the Levant including the Pella Project and Teleilat Ghassul in Jordan, along with fascinating research by some of the scholars NEAF supports with grants and scholarships.

Check out our podcasts – hear archaeologists talk about their discoveries, and experiences in the field.

If you are not already a Member of NEAF, do consider joining us. Student Membership is FREE! Members get advance notice of our events, and access to most of our activities is at a lower price to members than for non-members. NEAF members also get information about volunteering opportunities. And please, follow us on Facebook and Instagram. We look forward to welcoming NEAF members and friends to future events. To stay in touch you can ‘Contact us’.

NEAF is a Foundation of the University of Sydney. We collaborate and partner with other organisations within the University.
We have strong and valued links with the Chau Chak Wing Museum, and the Friends of the Nicholson Collection where archaeological materials from the Near East and from several projects supported by NEAF are housed.
We are a member of CCANESA. And, we work closely with the Department of Archaeology in the Faculty of arts and Social Sciences
